This is where it all began. Qantas Frequent Flyer has seen extraordinary success since launching in 1987. With nearly 10 million members earning Qantas Points through hundreds of partners, Qantas Frequent Flyer is ever evolving. Our goal is to recognise and reward our members while creating value for our partners.
The Qantas Frequent Flyer base has grown rapidly over the past five years. With a range of demographics, it represents the diversity of the population. At extreme ends of the scale we have Platinum members who fly once a week and shoppers with a focus on getting more rewards for their everyday spending. Every single member is important to us and to meet their differing needs, we’ve partnered with brands and created bespoke products to ensure everyone can easily reap the rewards of the program.
In 2013, our members earned billions of Qantas Points and redeemed 5.9 million rewards. With the addition of new partners and new redemption options in 2014, these numbers are expected to grow. Both increasing our partner network and creating new redemption options is crucial to the success of the loyalty earn and burn cycle.
In order to grow their points balance, we find members choose our partners over non-partner competitors, thus serving as a strong acquisition and retention tool for our partner brands. The more partners there are in the program, the easier it is for members to engage. And increasing the ways to use points directly increases the desire to earn points.
We run regular marketing campaigns to educate our members on the strength of our partner network and the benefits of the program. We also support partners with their own campaigns in their own channels.
